Day 2 woot! yeah.
Im excited that ive actually been keeping up with this.
So as the title already says, Tuesday is Mae Day.So I got to enjoy the musical creations of Mae, a band from Virginia. They have a sound I cant really describe to you, because I definitely believe it just changed on their newest album Singularity.
For some reason the idea of love has been all over this week so far so Im going to keep going with it.
I watched another NOOMA, video yesterday called Flame. If you dont know what NOOMA, it is a set of videos created to give life and form to some seemingly abstract principles of faith, in my opinion.
So anyway, Rob Bell, the man who is the speaker in the piece, begins to talk about the three Hebrew words for love,
raya- friendship
ahavah-commitment
dode-passion, sexual passion
sorry about the caps, but anyway, Bell begins to describe each love as a separate flame that is important but each needs the other in order to create the one big flame, true love. All the flames, friendship, commitment and passion burn as one, each extremely important in its own way.
Caroline came over today, and we sat and watched 2 episodes of LOST together. Its really funny because we were planning to go walking to this park near this house and have a picnic together, but mother nature ruined that idea quite quickly with a thunderstorm. So we stayed inside watched LOST and hung out with my mom and took funky pictures of each other.
But to be honest, I am guilty of over complicating love, like i talked about below in RLK day, and on tuesday it really hit me that I just need to chill and ’surrender to love like a dive in the ocean’ like Mae says in their song Last Transmission II.
Love is an awesome thing, but it is not solely sex or solely friendship or solely a little commitment, now for the last two i know its hard to imagine, but without all three true love cant exist because the flames will flicker and go out with out the other ones. I am by no means saying go have sex, if youre not married but make sure to show passion and desire in wanting to hang out with your special someone, give kisses and warm embraces. Let them know you care.
Caroline just held my hand while we watched LOST and we spend some time together.
There are so many other Mae songs I could talk about, like Embers and Envelopes, Sun and Were so Far Away.
But anyway,

So the food Caroline and my mom made for the picnic, I got to eat at work that night, and with each bite it was nice to know, it was made in love.
